„Lord of Enternal Night“, von Ben Alderson, ist mein erstes Buch des Autors.
Die Geschichte rund um Jak und das sogenannte Biest, war eine Art Neuerzählung von der Schönen und das Biest, nur mit viel mehr LTBTQ+ Vertretung und Vampiren. An sich ist also das Grundkonzept sowie der Faden der Story vertraut, dennoch hat es Ben geschafft mit einem melodischen, emotionalen Schreibstil die Geschichte so zu weben, dass ich von ihr gefangen war und das Buch erst zur Seite legen konnte, als ich es ausgelesen hatte. Der Spannungsbogen war solide und schraubte sich vor allem in den letzten Seiten noch einmal nach oben, was dem Ende noch mehr Ernsthaftigkeit verlieh. Jak und das Monster, besser gesagt Marius, waren sympathische Protagonisten, die beide unter ihrem Umständen litten, mit ihnen leben lernten und es am Ende ihrer Reise schafften, über diese hinauszuwachsen. Dadurch blieben sie mir auch im Nachgang im Kopf. Der Weltenaufbau war angelehnt ans viktorianische Zeitalter, besaß aber noch seine eignen Züge. Nur in manchen Dingen hätte ich mir diesen etwas breitgefächerter gewünscht.

Fazit, eine Märchenadaption, die ich nicht nur empfehlen kann, sondern muss! Lest sie und lasst euch genauso wie ich gefangen nehmen.

Das Buch hat von mir 4,5/5🌹 bekommen.

„Lord of Enternal Night“, from Ben Alderson, is my frist book from the author.
The story about Jak and the monster, is basically a Beauty and the Beast retelling, just with more LTBTQ+ represtention and Vampires. And even though we know how the story goes, Ben wove it with a melodical, emotional writingstyle so, so it kept me hooked until I had to finish the book. It was great like that. The charging was solid, took of at the end again and highlightend the seriousness of the scenes with it. Jak and the Monster were symptehic characters und evolved under dire circumstances pretty good, which made them relatable for me. The worldbuilding was based on victorian era, but still had its own creativity. But I would have liked, if it had been a little more detailed? Talked a bit more about itself? Yeah, I think thats it.

So, to sum everyhing up, that book is such a jewel in Retellings, that I wish, everyone schould read it.

I gave the book 4,5/5🌹.
