„Prince of the Sorrows“, von Kellen Graves, ist der erste Band der Rowan Blood – Reihe und sprach mich aufgrund des Klappentextes an.
Wow. Einfach nur wow, schon Mal vorne weg. Kellen Graves zieht hier mit einem einsaugenden, flüssigen Schreibstil eine phantastische Welt der folklorischen Feen und anderen Wesen auf, dass man aus dem staunen nicht mehr herauskommt. Sier schreiben es klug, intelligent recherchiert und vor allem geladen mit Emotionen, in der ich, mich als lesbische Person, mehr als repräsentiert fühlte. Hinzukam der grausame Faktor, der den Mythen und des Waldes anhängt und ich verloren. Saffron war ein Charakter, den ich gerne ins Herz schloss, Sympathie entwickelte und bebte, als es schlimm und herzzerreißend um ihn wurde. Auch die Nebencharaktere waren gut gezeichnet, greifbar und besaßen ihre Rollen, im Bilde des Ganzen. Wie gesagt, die Welt ist die der Feen aus dem schottischen/irischen Wesen, ich hoffe ich benenne sie jetzt nicht falsch, und war phantastisch gezeichnet. Die Story nahm auch schnell an Fahrt auf und man musste aufpassen, welche Biegungen man ging und sie sorgfältig mitverfolgen.
Womit ich mich schwer tat, war der Anfang. Die ersten 50 Seiten waren etwas zäh, komplex und es brauchte, bis ich mich reingefunden hatte.

Fazit, eine brillante Geschichte. Absolute Empfehlung, vor allem im Genre LGBTQ+.

„The Prince of the Sorrows“, from Kellen Graves, is the first book in the Rowan Blood – Series and sounded amazing.
First, wow. Just wow. Kellen Graves draws you in, with a lush, fluid writingstyle into her phantasitc world of faeries and their dangers. They wrote it smart, full of intellectual research and emotions, which just grip you and do not leave you, even if you finish the book. Safforn was a likeable, sympathetic character and you rose and fell with him, his emotions and got caught in the games of the faerie. Even the sidecharacters were fully fleshed out, you could feel them breathing and had their important rolls in the plot. The story was fast, showed the problems and the dangers of solving them and I could not help, but be entranced by it. What I also loved, was the reprasentation of the LGBTQ+ community and how it resonnated with my own gay heart. Just, well done.
The only thing, with which I had some problems with, were the first 50 pages of the book. They were a little bit stiff, to komplex and full of information, which I could not completly stomach. But, at one point, I got this information thing and flew through the book. Wow.

So, to sum everything up, brilliant story. Absolute recommendation for fans of querness and love, through all the pages.
