„Frost“, von C. N. Crawford, ist der erste Band der Frost und Nectar – Series und sprach mich aufgrund des Klappentextes an.
Was C. N. Crawford hier sehr gut gemacht hat, war eine düstere, frostige Atmosphäre herüber zu bringen. Ich hatte keine Probleme damit, mir eine einige Orte oder Plätze vorzustellen. Generell war es flüssig und locker geschrieben.
Ava war witzig, gut umschrieben mit ihren Umständen und schlüssig in ihrer Handlung. Manchmal wünschte ich mir, aber an ihr, mehr Selbstvertrauen, oder das Bewusstsein selbst Lösungen zu finden und einen eignen Tatendrang, etwas auf den Grund zu gehen und nicht nur darüber zu stolpern. Die Nebenprotagonisten waren okay, wenn auch etwas blass und hätten gerne, viel früher und mehr, in die Story mit eingebunden werden. Der Spannungsbogen war okay, hätte aber gerne mehr hervorgekitzelt werden können, mit ein paar weiteren Actionszenen oder Wendungen. Der Weltenaufbau war teilweise angelehnt an die schottische/irische Mythologie in Verbindung mit Shakespeares Mittsommernachtstraum und in den wenigen Sequenzen, wo es wichtig war, gut untergebracht. Ansonsten spielte es kaum eine Rolle, was Schade war.
Was mir gar nicht gefallen hat, war die Story. Sie war vorhersehbar, an vielen Passagen und und auch sehr konfliktarm, obwohl das Potenzial dazu da gewesen wäre, mehr herauszuholen. Aus der Sache zu machen.
Echt Schade.

Fazit. Ich bin der Meinung, für Fantasyeinsteiger, ist das ein ideales Buch. Es ist leicht, unkompliziert zu verstehen und einfach. Für meinen Geschmack, ist es aber nicht gewesen.

„Frost“, from C. N. Crawford, is the first book in the Frost and Nectar – Series.
What I really liked was the dark, frosty setting. C. N. Crawford wrote it good and you could just imagine, which place was which and how it worked. The fluid writing, played also a good part in transporting this setting.
Ava was witty, solid in her characterstructure and logical, in her ways. But sometimes, I wished she would have showed more action in some situations, and a little more selfconfidence. The side characteres were alright, even if a little flat and without background. The charging was okay, even if I thought, I could have been better, if there was more action or twists. The world was inspired by the scotts and irish fairytales, I hope I don´t get it wrong and shakespears midsommernightsdream. But, most of the time, it didn´t really play a big role in the overall scheme.
What I really didn´t like, was the story. It was predictable, on so many passages and missing conflicts, although it had the potenial for it. Very sad.

So, to sum everything up, I think this book is ideal, when you want to start reading Fantasy, because its easy and uncomplicated. But for someone, who reads fantasy a lot, I can´t recomended.
