Rezension (deutsch)

„Flowers for the Devil“, von Vlad Khany, ist mein erstes Buch von ihr gewesen und sprach mich aufgrund des Klappentextes an.
Vlad Khanys Schreibstil war solide, flüssig und stach vor allem durch sein düsteres Setting in London 1860 , den dazugehörigen Slums, der hohen Gesellschaft und dem blanken Schmutz, den man riechen, schmecken und fühlen konnte, hervor. Die Welt an sich war sehr realitäsnah, mit vielen Details zu Kulturen und Traditionen, Problemen an sich, geschmückt und fügte sich gut in das Buch hinein.
Die Charaktere waren faszinierend. Konnten mich vor allem immer wieder und wieder mit ihren Hintergrundgeschichten, ihrer gesamten Vergangenheit, die ein bunter Mix aus Kultur, Krieg und Moral war, für sich gewinnen. Leider waren mir ihre Handlungen zu Ende hin etwas unschlüssig, überspitzt und nicht mehr so gut durchdacht wie am Anfang. Der Spannungsbogen war gut, mit genug Geheimnissen und Fragen versehen, dass man stetig tiefer in das Buch stieg, flaute aber zum Ende hin schon etwas zu früh ab. Die Geschichte an sich war sehr stark an die Vergangenheiten und jeweiligen Emotionen der Charaktere geknüpft und ließ mich dadurch gerne mit rätseln und darüber nachdenken. Womit ich leider etwas unzufrieden bin ist die generelle Auflösung vom Buch. Sie war originell, aber nach der ganzen Komplexität die vorher an den Tag gelegt wurde, zu einfach und schnell abgelöst.
Das einzige, wovon ich kein Fan war, war, ich beschreibe es mal vorsichtig als „seltsame Erotik“. Erotik der unangenehmen Momente und Wortwahl? Sie war echt nicht mein Fall und wirkte sich dadurch, leider, negativ bei mir aufs lesen aus.

Fazit. Für mich stach das Buch vor allem durch seine Charaktere heraus. Sie waren sehr tiefgründig, gefüllt mit unzähligen Gedanken und so unterschiedlich, wie man nur sein konnte. Dafür empfehle ich es echt gerne.

Das Buch hat von mir 3,5/5🌹bekommen.

„Flower for the Devil“, from Vlad Khany, is my first book from the author and sounded interesting because of its premises.
Vlad Khany´s writingstyle was fluid, smooth and in a way so depply, darkly atmospheric, that you could smell, taste and feel the slums, London 1860, the high and arrogant society. The world itself was full of details, unexpected culture and traditions, which wove itself wonderfully in the book.
Alle the characteres were fascinating. Had so many layers to uncover and hooked me again und again with their stories, their believes, wars, the bloodshed and tradegys. Unfortunatley, to the end of the book, I did´nt like all of their actions or understood them. The charging was good, kept me on my toes through secrets and the overall darkness of the story. But to the end, it fell a bit flat und resolved itself to fast. The story itself was intruging, connected with the characters on so many levels and I had my fun figuring everything out. What I didn´t really like was the ending. It was original, a diffrent approach, but with such complex characters and emotions, it was to straight, to easy resolved.
The thing I wasn´t a fan off, was the, I´m going to formualte it carefully, was the „weird spice“. Or was it spice in uncomfortable moments and word, which weren´t my cup of tea? Definitely. I´m sorry. I was just not a fan of this.

So, too sum everything up. The characters werde great, fully fleshed out. For this, I could recommend the story.
